Knux & BTMVLE Jotta- Medicine Man Single Review

The cult favorite artist and producer tag team of Knux & BTMVLE Jotta are at your doorstep with a brand new single “Medicine Man” featuring a 70s horror film esque beat and bars that could kill.

No strangers to each other the team of Knux and Jotta are building on the sound they ushered in on their last track “Figure 8”, merging dirty south flavor and values with 90s Boom Bap sampling and sensibilities.

On this new track “Medicine Man” KNUX provides a dreamy yet haunting soundscape for the “Medicine Man” himself BTMVLE Jotta to deliver his prescriptions in more ways than one.

Once that initial trailer dropped with the technicolor 70s vibe they had me with this one, being a big fan of film I caught the references instantly. Jotta for sure is a contender for top lyricist on both sides of the bay, with this track being one of his many stakes at that crown. With lines like “When Hellfire rain down we need bullet proof umbrellas” his words are undeniable.

Whether it’s with his words or the herbs BTMVLE Jotta is the “Medicine Man”, healing all that care to listen and striking fear in those who don’t. I dig the artist producer bag Jotta is in right now working with Knux, Bauxmonk, and 9henom respectively. Hopefully down the road we can get collab projects with Jot and all of these producers down the road but time will tell. For now we can all bask in the beats and bars until the “Medicine Man” returns with our next refill.

BTMVLE University

BTMVLE is back with brand new “University Caps” featuring the infamous “Dunce Cap Kid” on the front, and “BTMVLE” on the back. Each cap is premium embroidered with an adjustable leather strap on the back. With three different color combos the fits are endless.

This red and black joint is my favorite of the whole drop. I have a Cowboy By Takeo tee that will go perfect with it. The leather strap on the back gives it that polo hat vibe.

For those that have the orange and green Cowboy tee or the limited BTMVLE camo tee , this piece is a must for you. A lot of people crap on orange but it’s one of my favorite colors depending on what it’s paired with. This is one I would stash until fall and then bring it out just in time for season.

This shit right here was made for the summer. Throw on your Aqua, Cowboy tee and some Aqua 8s and your set my friend. The blue font really pops on this piece. I am glad they went with the leather strap on all three hats, instead of switching them up on each one.

Not sure how many of these hats are left so you better act fast before they are gone. If they do drop new color ways I would like to see a grey joint with a purple dunce cap kid, that would be fire.

Foam Firepower

The team over at Balaclava Boys as been hard at work producing an arsenal of fire arm plushies made for any Jit to carry.

With prices and sizes ranging from $15 to $150 there is a piece for everyone. The plushies are multipurpose being able to be used in the field as well as for style. The homie Niiks already rocked a few of these exclusive pieces in his video for “Color Blind”.

Also now available on the site are some exclusive 1 of 1 bags. My favorite has got to be the Arch bag, on some high art shit. The studio exclusive “Bandito Packs” might be my favorite bag in the entire line. Y’all any ready for that Prx Jit collab on that $Grey bandito, cause you know 1 of 1s are for the GOATS!

With the “Cowboy Party” happening this weekend I couldn’t think of a better time to pick up some gear on the site to rock at the function.

Party Like A Cowboy

To thank all of the supporters for all of the love over the past two years, the good people over at Cowboy By Takeo are giving back to the community with a “Cowboy Party”!

The past year as been a brazy one for the entire team over at Cowboy, from the “Goods & Wares” aspect, to the next level stuff on Debop , the jean jackets, and even a game changing “Carry Your Adventure” collab with Balaclava Boys all culminating with an appearance on the “Bonfire Podcast” and their own tent at the Curated Heat “Curated Market”.

If that wasn’t enough to get you hype for the party the homie went ahead and dropped some sick Cowboy logo tees in various color ways. The Aqua 8s inspired piece as well as the studio exclusive black and blue color ways are gonna be must haves for the Jit, but you can’t go wrong with any Cowboy tee. There is also a few other studio exclusives available at the party so you definitely don’t wanna get caught sleeping.

We Make It Cool To Be Southern.

Following in the long line of Southern Hip Hop duos like UGK, Outkast, Goodie Mob, and 8ball & MJG, BTMVLE Jotta and Jerry prove on “Good Fellas EP” that Florida can produce dope traditional Southern Hip Hop as well.

Both Jotta and Jerry are no strangers when it comes to this Hip Hop shit, both have been staples of the St.Pete Hip Hop movement for a minute now as well as being founding members of $lugged $ound$. Southern Hip Hop is more than just trap shit, it’s about southern living and the good and bad that comes with it.

The intro track “Gf2” sets the album off with some summer time FLA vibes, that are guaranteed to get your St.Pete Beach cookout jammin. This was the first single released off the EP, so fingers crossed on a video soon.

“Think Tank” might be my favorite track on the entire EP, it’s just some life shit. Both emcees spit some of the realest bars I’ve heard in awhile. Jotta’s verse focuses on his new role as a father, painting a vivid picture of seeing his new born son. Nova’s went brazy on his verse, I really loved the sports references and his delivery at the opening of his verse was top tier, worddddd.

I dug how introspective the duo got on “The Table”, this is a perfect example of how Southern Hip Hop can have substance and be more than just flossin your grill and chains. We all have lost ones and this track is for them.

“Tango” reminds me the most of some old school “Ridin Dirty” H Town trill shit. This is the one you jam while you swang through 34st traffic. Shout out to Don Rock at the end, she was an essential addition for the outro.

The hook for “Dumb” is a standout for sure. The funky southern instrumental came off as psychedelic at points. It was dope that the intro and outro tracks had more of an upbeat vibe, while the middle portion had more of the introspective tracks.

“Good Fellas EP” is hands down one of my standout projects of the year so far, not only in the 727 scene but just in general. Jot & Jerry captured the Southern Hip Hop vibe 100%, cementing that St.Pete and FLA have a place in the story of Southern Hip Hop.

BTMVLE Is The Foundation

Over the past year or so the The BTMVLE studio has grown into one of the dopest spots for just mad creation. Whether it’s hosting Slugg Nite$ events or housing the numerous brands, each representing their own style and take on the culture, BTMVLE is the foundation!

Taking time away from just doing outside work, the BTMVLE team has been building towards some big FLA themed pieces to have all the jits ready for beach season. I’ve seen some sneak peaks of the all embroidered gator biker vest, which is definitely an essential piece for any FLA rider.

Just when you thought the Cowboy By Takeo X Balaclava Boys collab was done they come at you with some of the dopest plushies I have seen in a minute. Every Jit in Pinellas county is gonna want one of these fire arm plushies. These are all hand made in house at the studio. My personal favorite is the yellow choppa.

Carry Your Adventure 📸 by Snorlaxguerrero

The newest addition to the Cowboy By Takeo X Balaclava Boys lineup is the “Bandito Pouch”. After seeing the entire squad rock them at the NLB 3 year anniversary pop up, I was kind of sold on these being my favorite bag in the line up. Tons of new colors are available and the homies are always open to help create a custom bag for you for the right price.

The latest splatter jean jacket collection from Cowboy By Takeo are some museum worthy pieces. Each piece has its own flavor, but my personal favorite has got to be the yellow one. Really hype to see what Cowboy will bring to a black jean jacket.

That red and yellow Cowboy logo tee is one of my favorite pieces I own. What makes Cowboy By Takeo logo tees so special are their ability to be worn in any situation or in any setting, whether it’s casual or a little more dressy, anyone that wants Cowboy will get Cowboy.

One of the newest collaborators to come through the studio is Lost Boy. Bringing a darker more metal vibe to design, I really dig all the recent jean work Lost Boy has been doing lately, especially that collab with Cowboy. The tag work on all of his shirts is really dope, adding in leather hits when it feels right on a certain piece.

These Demon Boy plushies are essential for any fan of the brand. The handmade factor of each piece is what I admire the most.

After infecting everyone with a few drops earlier in the year it’s only a matter of time before Pollex World takes over full control of your system. Soon you will be rocking Pollex without even knowing it, almost like a uniform.

1 Of 1’s Are For The GOATS.

Building off inspiration from their sold out “Trapicana” release, Jit Camp and BTMVLE have collaborated on “Trapicana Field” long sleeve to commemorate the historic 2020 Rays Baseball season.

In part one of their “Stadium Series” Collection, Jit Camp and BTMVLE put all of St.Pete into this one, with every detail representing the city.

The Rays blue and yellow color hits represent the current colors of the team. The purple and black camo design of the shirt is a call back to the OG “Devil Rays” color scheme we all know and love. Locals have so many great memories at the Trop, and for many it has been a staple of the city for our entire lives, this shirt is an ode to that.

The BTMVLE “Dunce Cap Kid” adds to the local ties theme by being a St.Pete owned brand and business, putting out small batches of dope product for their consumers. The Rays often use the Pelican or St.Pete flag on some of their gear, further adding to the St.Pete aesthetic.
