Zhudaru1963- Skin Tone Single Review

Zhudaru1963 delivers something for the ladies on the DJ Donnie Luv assisted “Skin Tone”.

Following up one of the years best singles “Trap Marley”, I was interested to see what would come next out of the Zhu. With no full project announced as of yet, I’m cool with loose singles dropping from time to time just to show the rest of the game what’s up.

I like as of late that Zhu is having fun, becoming a bit more playful with his latest tracks. If “Trap Marley” was for the streets, than “Skin Tone” has got to be for the ladies. That’s not to say that fellas can’t get down to the track as well, the beat is to good not to get ya moving, plus that hook instantly will get stuck in your head.

The Sluggs come to the Zhu, when Donnie Luv comes through to add some ad libs, and talk that talk. Her gravitas added to the song for sure, and you know I had to get hype when two of the burgs biggest collectives come together.

I can almost assume we will get some visuals for this joint soon so be on the look out for that. You can already bet this is going to get heavy rotation on “The New Tampa Bay” playlist, so don’t sleep.

Zhudaru1963- Trap Marley Video & Single Review

The man himself Zhudaru1963 comes through with his latest single “Trap Marley”, bringing those island vibes to the Burg.

🏕💯🐼🍃💨
Zhu Shit comin at your neck

Off rips we are hit by that smooth guitar rift that sets the tone for the song. We have all heard Zhu spit before but this time he is a bit more chill just vybing like the beat. It was nice to hear Zhu over some different production, usually he goes over more Boom Bap or Trap beats but this laid back beat was a dope change up.

🏕💯🐼 🐘 🦒

Despite the chilled out vibe of the track Zhu is still dropping that knowledge like usually. Since he’s Trap Marley we get some of that street talk towards the opening verse, but later on Zhu spits on how he’s got to change all that to see his kids grow up, as well as see his homies blow up with their music. Nice use of duality with the lyrics and message.

As far as the video goes, It was dope to see some 727 landmarks that have been in the city for generations make appearances in the video. Having the lyrics up on screen was a nice touch, allowing the viewer to take the full message in.

Words of Wisdom

“Trap Marley” is one of my favorite singles of the year. I really dig this new feel good vibe from Zhu. We all know him as the OG and founder of the crew but it’s dope when the homie steps into the booth and does his thing. I see big waves coming from this track, and I can’t wait to see where Zhu takes it next with this “Trap Marley” persona. Zhu!!!!!!

Heyeyella- Strange Noize

One of my most highly anticipated projects of this year was “Strange Noize” by Heyeyella. After hearing his past projects, singles as well as features on the St.Pete Hip Hop classic “Sky Zhone” from Zhudaru1963 and song of the contender “Stick Up Kids” that Yella dropped earlier this year. The time has finally come, turn on your radios and get ready, “Energy, Frequency, Message!”

🏕💯 🐼 🍃 💨

The project begins with the intro, a staticky signal than transports you to a different world, welcome to “Strange Noize”.

I love the groovy vibes on “Piece Of Mind”. The hook is one of my favorites on the project, reminiscent to other southern hip hop classic records. Really solid way to start off the project.

The static returns transitioning into my favorite track on the project “Goat Cheese”. Being teased in several videos leading up I was so ready to hear this joint in full, I even showed my co workers the video and song and got them singing that shit with me. ABR killed that jazzy beat. Heyeyellas flow on the first verse is next level, switching from double time to reg speed. Anytime Zhudaru1963 jumps on a track he always comes correct, adding gravitas to the track. This one a Zhu classic foreal.

“Sky Is Falling” feels like some end of the movie type shit. It was dope how Yella seamlessly goes into the hook of the song, making it still feel like it’s a continuation of the verse. One of my favorite beats off the project.

Another stand out track for me has got to be “Birds Eye View”. I chant the hell out of this hook all the time. The beat progression on this one is crazy, with sounds constantly being added throughout the track. My favorite part of the track is how methodic Yella comes in on the second verse, he snaps foreal. This needs to be the next video.

“Occult Studies” transports you to another world. The old school video game sounding vibes to the beat as well as Yellas, lyrics dealing with magic bring the track together. I would highly recommend checking out the video for this joint, Yella always kills his visuals.

I am a big fan of projects that only have a few features on them, allowing the artist to shine on his own. But whenever a feature does pop up it makes them more memorable and have more of an impact on the project. The chill vibes on “Pareidolia X Godz Face” featuring ABR & Rishi Beats comes in at the perfect time. It’s always dope to hear Rishi on a track, and it’s only right to let ABR do his thing as well.

“Step” gets things jumping. This joint isn’t something you would except coming from Heyeyella but it was definitely a pleasant surprise. It would be dope to see a video of this one with everyone from the Zhu and a few other special guests doing the dance.

The vibes on “HeyCoSiz” is almost on some Neo Soul type shit. I can’t wait to hear this one live. Songs like this put you on good vibes, even when you are having the worst day.

“Divine Symmetry” is for all the real Hip Hop fans. Bars on bars, Yella kills the beat, spreading hood vibes and fighting demons. This track is a reminder to watch out for the opps, cause they always watching you.

“Way Too Legit” paints the picture of everyday life in sunny St.Pete. The beat matches the sunny vibe while Yellas lyrics match the gritty aspect of life in the burg.

The strings on “Wonderland” are a jam for sure, especially when the piano kicks in. One of my favorite line on the project is “visualizing them victories, ain’t made it yet but my mind ready”. The message is strong on this one. Great way to end an amazing project

“Strange Noize” lived up to and exceeded expectations. Since it dropped the project had been in heavy rotation. I am so hype to hear some of these joints if not the whole project live, as well as get more of the vibes from the visuals that will be dropping in the future. Shout out to Yella and the entire Zhu for dropping a dope project the city can be proud of. ENERGY, FREQUENCY, MESSAGE.

Mackey Emmanuel- Feelings on F*ck It

Coming off last years St.Pete Hip Hop classic “Sky Zhone” by Zhudaru1963 introducing a majority of the core members of the Zhudaru Collective, it was only a matter of time before Mackey Emmanuel dropped a banger for the city. On “Feelings On F*ck It” Mackey Emmanuel is able to capture the streets and club, providing the soundtrack for anyone living that life in Sunny St.Pete.

🏕💯 🐼 🍃 💨 🔥

The triumphant “Groove” has Mackey in his bag. No one is on his level when it comes to the melodic street shit. The vocals on this joint are some of my favorite Mackey has done to date. Perfect way to kick off the project.

At this point “Too Much” featuring Kalixo Ratchet is a St.Pete Hip Hop classic. It fits the vibe of the album for sure and was a nice addition.

An ode to Mackey’s Grandma, “Pauline” was one of the first singles released off the project. Whenever you are having a bad day just throw this joint on and let your worries fade away. Hopefully down the road we can get some visuals for this one.

Other than “Too Much”, “Tommy Vercetti/Kerosene” featuring Kayo Da Beast is my favorite track off the project. The first half “Tommy Vercetti” is a St.Pete Strip Club anthem. All the clubs in the 727 need to have this one on repeat. This one just got that Zhu vibe. Once the beat switch happens and shit slows down it’s time for the melodic “Kerosene”. I remember when the teaser video for this track dropped and I was waiting for this one to get an official release. “Kerosene” is on some gangster shit for sure.

“Numbers” is another standout track on the album. The atmospheric beat is a nice change up for Mackey. This one has a bit of a J.Cole vibe to it but not anywhere near as corny. Mackey is spitting some real shit on this track, dealing with fallen foes and fallen friends it’s a struggle out here in the 727.

“Yahfehme” was the final single released before the project officially dropped. This one has a vibe that could be in a 2K game or Madden. I feel like this track pretty much embodies the vibe and tone Mackey was going for on the album as far as theme and sound goes.

The project ends out with the bouncy “Caicos”. This one has Mackey on his exotic shit. This some shit you just jam in the whip with the sun going down. The feel good vibe will have you flexing on everyone in sight.

With “Feelings On F*ck It” Mackey Emmanuel continues the run of dominance out of the Zhudaru in the St.Pete Hip Hop scene. With no signs of slowing down it’s only a matter of time before Mackey drops another single for the city.

The Ultimate 727 Statement Piece.

The time has finally come my entire St.Pete family, the most anticipated slide in the whole game is now finally available at the Zhudaru1963 Shop.

🏕💯🐼🦒🐘
Zhu to tha slides

Guaranteed to be the essential piece in all of 727 fashion culture, the slide comes in three color ways red, black, and what I call cactus. At first I was thinking red and black as the first pair I was going to pick up, but now that I look at them I am really feeling the cactus ones. Down the road I think I will end up getting all the pairs. I know for sure these are going to go quick, especially once the entire Zhu gets ahold of em.

Coziest socks in the game
Brought the Zhu to Amalie

While your at the shop I would highly recommend picking up a pair of the socks or a tank to complete the entire Zhu fit. The black and white socks are essential for the slides. They are by far the coziest socks in the game.

The man himself

Big shout out to Zhu for making these a reality. Everyone was asking for them including myself so head over to the Zhudaru and pick up your pair today!

727 Classics Review: GM- Introducing

Probably my favorite part about the St.Pete Hip Hop scene is the versatility of the artists and the sounds they bring to the city. On “Introducing”, GM brings Boom Bap to the Burg crafting a project that sounds like it’s straight out the 95’.

🏕💯💸

The East Coast “Boom Bap” sound has always been a favorite of mine and pretty much when I think of traditional Hip Hop that’s the song d that comes to mind. GM the duo comprised of Johnny Adama & Tjaru are two of the only artists this era to craft a project that sounds like it’s straight out of that “Boom Bap” era. Probably the closest thing is “1999” by Joey Bada$$ and the work Griselda is doing as of late.

GM goes over classic beats we all know and love like “It Ain’t Hard To Tell” and “Everything Remains Raw” but makes them feel like their own track bringing a new aspect to the beat. For some of these joints I personally like the GM versions more because I can relate to the 727 vibes.

727 Pioneers

The project starts off with the title track “intro(ducing)” which is a great taste of what’s to come from the project. Johnny and Tjaru fit like a glove over the soul sample beat. Adama & Tjaru are so relatable with their bars.

“Say It” has the duo on their Dirty South shit over the old school Luda beat. Tjaru already had the stoner rap classic “How High” with Crown Marquiss and this is just another example of what the hook master can do.

“Blue Dreams” is on some triumphant shit. The duo goes bar for bar on the track putting on for the set. I really dug the melodic vibes on Tjaru’s verse. GM in the building!

“4 Seasons” reminds me of some shit you just put on in the afternoon while you thinking about your life and day. Johnny’s hook is really dope, and I like how they amp up the beat more for the hook. I like the different approach each MC took with their verses. Johnny’s was more about how he’s gonna reach his goals and make it out the struggle and Tjaru’s verse is sort of dealing with the same concept but from the aspect of dealing with women.

Gang Shit

“Sheesh” really is that, Johnny and Tjaru go brazy over the classic Nas beat, pretty much making the song their own.

“-__- Dead” has the duo over one of my favorite Outkast beats of all time. What I like most about this track is they still are bringing the bars but it’s still on the phonk shit that we have grown accustomed to from the pair. I always love when Adama gets on that pimp shit.

By far my favorite track on the project is “Whatever”. Whenever I hear this track it literally transports me back to the 95’. The video they made back in the day captures that vibe perfectly. If you showed someone this track and they had never heard the Busta version I’m pretty sure they would think it was made back in the day.

“Who You With 2011” is on some shiny suite shit. This one has big “Easy Money” vibes for me.

Adama and Tjaru just know why beats fit them and there are many times while listening to this project where I was just like damn man, this really one of them ones. “Waiting(…..waiting)” is a perfect example of that. I got patients!!

“February 13th” is on some big Tab Rap vibes. The story telling by Adama is some next level shit. I would love to see what he would do with a concept album.

Not sure if they where inspired by the Charles Hamilton track that uses the same beat but that’s instantly what I thought of when I heard it. The melodic hook on “Temptations” was really well done by Tjaru.

You know the homies always gotta throw some West Coast shit on a project since we on the West Side of FLA. “Friday” is some major gang shit. Tjaru’s flow and delivery is untouchable on this one.

“On Your Mark” just blew my mind. Adama and Tjaru over a classic DJ Premier beat is can’t miss. As far as just straight bars I am not sure there is anyone in the entire state fucking with these guys.

Although the duo is at different phases of their artistry now, the boom bap roots are still present in their music today, “Easy Money” is an example of that. This without a doubt is a special project for the city and I would highly recommend everyone going back and checking it out, especially if your a true Hip Hop head. They really are the last 2.

727 Classics Review: Local Muzik- Lake$ide Locals

With a special $GREY edition of the “Bonfire Podcast” dropping later this week, I felt it was the right time to finally give the foundation of St.Pete Hip Hop the immortal classic status it deserves. In my city the 727 we treat this like our “Diplomatic Immunity”. If you ain’t local can you really relate?

Cover Art by the $GREY GOAT 🏕💯🗿🐐

At the time only a few people were out here really putting on for the 727 when it came to Hip Hop. You had pioneers like Skroodle, Famous Kid Brick, Smooth Hines, DJ Shurefire, and Lil Keis ( R.I.P. to the legend) all doing their own thing making it shake for the city. When Local Muzik came onto the scene their style and sound painted the picture of what life in the St.Pete was really like. With Crown Marquiss, Mari So Dope, Ameen Spade, and Robert Gallardo bringing the rhymes, style, visuals, and local lifestyle to life. Shout out to the homie King Quel.

The project is a compilation of songs from the collective, some featuring all the members some are just solo efforts. A majority of the videos for this project are directed by Robert Gallardo, as well as the iconic cover art. Down the road “Honcho” should be added as a bonus track but for now it is just a rvre CyberMonk artifact.

The project starts out with “Juicy Freestyle” featuring Mari So Dope. This was the best way to kick off the project taking us back with some old school shit while adding in that local flavor. Someone told me this is their favorite track from Mari and that’s hard to argue. The video by Rob is the perfect companion piece.

The next track “Changes” featuring Crown Marquiss is a perfect example of the experimental style Crown and the other Locals dabbled with. Who else back then and still to this date is rapping over this type of production. Crown always kills it with the slow flow.

“Dream on” featuring Ameen Spade for me perfectly captures the St.Pete Hip Hop sound. Spade is one of my favorite lyricists of all time so anytime he graces a track you better listen up. This track is super nostalgic for me.

“Badd” featuring Mari So Dope is on some “Fear and Loathing in St.Pete” type shit. Mari needs to perform this at a festival or something all the jits would go wild.

“Trippin” is the first posse cut off the project. Crown, Mari, and Spade all spazzed on this one. Big shout out to FAF on that Spade verse, that’s another potential classic review down the road. Not sure if Hit Wonder made the beat for this one but it definitely has that vibe.

“I’m Preferred” is another posse cut with all three going brazy over some jazzy production. The storytelling approach each one took with their verses was a really dope touch. The way the beat changes after each verse is on some futuristic shit. Definitely one of my favorite tracks on the album.

“Gameboy” by Mari So Dope is one of the most important tracks in all of St.Pete Hip Hop, if this shit ain’t classic than I don’t know what is. This song is super nostalgic for some many jits in the burg, whether it’s the brazy beat made by Goodie, or the iconic video directed by Rob. Not sure if this is my favorite Mari song but it hands down is my favorite track on this album. “ I Got Game!!!!!!”

“Early Bird Special” features Spade and Crown on one of the more chilled out vibes. To me this track has more of a west coast influence, something that has always been a fixture of the Local Muzik sound.

“Searching” by Ameen Spade is a classic in its own right. So many quotable to mention but if you understand “Searching for the Goodie like the Mob in the building” I’ll shout you out lol. The beat by Hit Wonder fits Spade’s style perfectly. The video by Rob brings the song to life. It’s always a treat when Rob and Spade work together.

“Avenue” featuring Crown and Mari is on some grungy Southside type shit. Like I said before the experimentation when it came to a production stand point is still not being touched today. Crown and Mari snapped on their verses with some of the hardest lyrics they had spit at the time.

“Local Muzik Houseparty” is what we are jamming at all the upcoming functions from now on. It was only right to make this one a posse cut, and you can definitely feel how much fun they had recording this track.

“All Wood” is one of my favorite Crown Marquiss songs of all time. The abstract beat and style he had on this one is still timeless. I will never forget when this video first dropped from him and Rob, iconic.

Anytime Spade jumps on some boom bap shit I am all for it. “Still Searching” features a sample from my favorite Pac song of all time “Temptations” so the love was there off rips. Honestly I like “Still Searching” more than its sequel. The way Spade rides the choppy beat is unmatched.

“Splitem” is also an essential track. This one is on some video game shit, with spade flowing over a futuristic beat from Krikkes. The video from Rob brings it all together with all the “Space Invaders” vibes. I love of Spade can go from being on his introspective shit to just spazzing out on a track, that’s what makes him one of my fav artists.

“Pam Grier” is on some 2000s rock type shit. Crown always snaps when it comes to the storytelling, painting visual pictures with his words, allowing the listener to understand the St.Pete vibes. I’ve said it enough but I’ll say it one last time, who was or still is rapping over this type of production.

This project is so important to me, to the city, and to St.Pete Hip Hop. This project is one of the reasons I do what I do, and I want to thank Crown, Mari, Spade, and Rob for everything they do and have done for the city. The Local Muzik Dynasty lives!

It’s Tha Circle

After hearing his name being shouted out on various 727 classics throughout the years, as well as dropping a classic collab EP “MUD!”in his own right with RodxThexGod, the time has finally come for his highly anticipated project. Playrunna AV is the “Motivator”.

🏕💯🏁

Playrunna AV makes the sort of Trap Music that made me fall in love with genre back in the day when I was a jit. The lyrics are more about the trap mindstate and the hustle that comes along with that, rather than just talking about how many guns you got and how many drugs you got. Playrunna’s cool delivery allows the audience to take in all the game he’s putting down. I just picture him in a smoke filled booth with the shades on.

Playrunna is no stranger to making those street anthems, and the homie found another one on “Get Ya Money Up”. This track hands down is gonna be the anthem of the summer, especially if he’s got a video in the works. If this song doesn’t motivate you to wanna get your ass up and go get that bread, than you must just be a buster.

“Ballin On Purpose” is one of my favorite Playrunna AV tracks already. I really loved the song structure as well as the different sounds that pop up throughout the beat. This is definitely one of those flexin tracks you throw on while your gettin ready for the club or function.

On “No Love” we get some introspective vibes from Playrunna. Dealing with success can be hard for some especially for the people around you. Eventually a hater or buster is gonna pop up in the circle but it’s all good cause we ain’t showin them “No Love” like AV says. It’s the sort of boss lessons like this that separate Playrunna from the rest.

The final track “Believe” ends the album out on an inspirational note, with the man himself spitting facts on the intro of the track. AV’s flow on this track is impeccable. I like how at the end AV still shows y’all he can hit ya with that drug talk when he wants.

It would be really dope if AV shot a mini movie with like a blaxploitation vibe featuring all the songs. At Jit Camp during PE we only bumping that Playrunna AV to keep everyone motivated through the work out. This EP is fire front to back of some of the hardest music ever to come out of the 727. Always trust in Tha Circle!

727 Classics Review: Zhudaru1963- Sky Zhone

It’s been about a year since I dropped my original review for the Zhudaru1963 album “Sky Zhone”, so I felt now was the right time to finally canonize the album in the place it truly deserves to be, as a 727 Hip Hop classic.

Sky Zhone achieved

This album was one of the first St.Pete Hip Hop albums I reviewed on my site, introducing me to not just the man himself Zhudaru1963 but also to the entire Zhudaru collective. On this project Kayo Da Beast & Mackey Emmanuel a pretty much on every track, with bits of HeyeYella, Acoupstix, ABR, and Kalixo Rachet. Each artist in the collective brings their own unique sound, but it all still fits under the Zhu umbrella.

Off rips the first thing you should know is any project recorded in the Zhudio has the best sound quality in the area and Sky Zhone is no exception. The first song “Myself” showcases Kayo Da Beast. Kayo is definitely one his introspective shit on this one. Known for his more club friendly records it’s nice to see Kayo get in his conscious bag.

Now this project has birthed several 727 anthems but the first one is “No Cap” featuring Kayo, Mackey, and the infamous Playrunna Av. Mackey Emmanuel is hands down my favorite melodic rapper but he can also hit you with them bars. Kayo is always able to get a track hype as well, with one of the craziest flows I’ve heard from him. Anytime we get blessed with a Playrunna AV verse we should always appreciate it. This hook is by far one of the things I’ve caught my self singing all year.

My favorite tracks from Zhudaru1963 himself are those dancehall island hits like “Slow” and “Mi Luv Yuh Body” both featuring Kayo. Anytime Zhu & Kayo get on a record it’s guaranteed to take over the clubs. This one is heavy in the summer party mix.

“On Go” featuring Kayo, Mackey, and HeyeYella is one of the more chiller vibes on the album. This is the track you put on when everyone smokin vibing out after killing half a bottle of hen. I always will remember this one from the “Sky Zhone” commercial that would show up on IG.

Every classic album needs a smoking song and “Burn Slow” is just that. Imma need another Alexis Julianna & Mackey collab cause they brought big Neo Soul vibes. This that late night smoking with your girl type song, shit maybe even put a movie on.

Ever since I heard “True” I’ve been patiently waiting for a Kalixo Ratchet project. This is the definition of that 727 street shit. Would love to see Playrunna AV and Kalixo jump on a track together, that shit would be classic.

It wouldn’t be a Zhudaru project without an appearance from Acoupstix. “Arrogance” is one of the most triumphant tracks I’ve heard in a minute. I just picture Acoupstix chillin in the jungle riding on an elephant, maybe even smoking one with him.

HeyeYella is hands down one of the top lyricist in the entire scene, “Real Spill” is a perfect example of that. It’s brazy how much yella switches up his flow on this track, even referencing it in the track.

“Go Off” is the big anthem/posse cut on the project with Mackey delivering one of my favorite hooks on the project. I can spit the ABR verse word for word and can’t wait to see him and the rest of the crew perform it live. HeyeYella snapped on his verse as well, building the anticipation even more for that secret EP they keep telling me is out. Shout out CLP Nation!

The closing track on the album is one of the best songs ever created in the scene and is by far my favorite track on the album. From the out of this world hook by Mackey to his even brazier verse what is their not to love. Kalixo also does his thing on the track adding into that hustler vibe the beat sets up. But Foreal though that Mackey Emmanuel verse is one of the hardest verses I’ve ever heard in my life no bap. Also peep the video directed by Moji it’s classic.

Think of this project like the 727 version of Wu’s “Enter The 36 Chambers”. That project introduced us all the members of the crew and had us waiting to see what each member would do on their own project. After “Sky Zhone” I couldn’t wait to hear Acoupstix “Couped Up” and Alec Burnright’s “Mofongo+”. With other projects from HeyeYella & Playrunna AV rumored to drop soon I can’t wait to see what comes out the Zhu next. Also shout out to Quanzaah, Rishi Beats, Smokey, & Johnny Adama.

Adama Bin Laden

The Adama Effect

After dabbling with some different sounds and sticking to the Valentines Day theme on “Conflicted”, Johnny Adama is able to capture a sound of his own on “The Adama Effect”.

The album starts off with “Above The Rim” a dope joint to get you tuned into the vibe of the album, really airy hard hitting production, my type of beat for sure. Adama’s bars are always top tier.

“Real Deal” featuring the infamous Playrunna Av is the street banger off the album. Playrunna and Johnny go bar for bar over a slick trap beat. Playrunna’s verse is filled with quotable lines, that bar about the timbs is cold af.

My favorite song on this project switches almost daily but for the past few days it’s been “The Last 1” featuring Tjaru. Being real this might be my favorite Adama song to date. The way he flows over the lush boom trap production is unfuckwitable. I am unfamiliar with Tjaru but his verse went in as well, and will pretty much be classic cause of how dope this track is. I got a brazy idea for a video on this one. Let’s make it happen Adama.

The entire project was mixed and engineered by Zhudaru1963, not sure how much input he had on the production but “Tom Fords” sounds like it was out the jungle. The way Johnny rides the beat is flawless whether it’s more uptempo for the hook or slowed down for the verses.

“Menu” is one of my standout tracks for sure. I love the icy shimmering beat. Johnny’s chill flow and bars of smoking, finessing, and chilling with his ladies pairs well with the slow knock of the beat. We def need a video for this joint.

The track “Secret” is on a different vibe than some of the rest of the tracks on the project, with Johnny brining probably his fastest flow. This track had tons of quotables, but my favorite line is the “got a plug in St.Petersburg…. Russia”.

“Made 4 This” featuring JT Skye is on some flexing shit. I love how many times Adama references Jit in the track. JT Skye’s verse is pretty dope, complementing the first verse and hook from Adama. If you know Johnny the Cali trips line is true to life, Jit really doing his thing foreal doe.

So there are two tracks specifically on this project have a dope Hyphy/ Mac Dre vibe to them. These tracks switch up the album well the first being “Need 2 Know”. Johnny is definitely channeling his pimp shit on this one.

“Policy” is slowly becoming one of my fav joints on the album. The way Johnny rides the beat at the end of each verse is mind blowing. He can slow it up and speed up his flow whenever he wants, almost chameleon like. There are points on this track where he finds his pocket and just snaps on the beat.

“Think About” is a must listen on the album, if you don’t listen to any tracks at least peep this one. From the hard hitting icy beat to the ear worm hook from Adama, I hope he continues this style on his next project.

The final track on the album is “Passion”, dabbling more into that Hyphy sound Adama sets the mood for the track. Between the beat and Adama it sounds like he’s flexing in a Arabian strip club with hella bad belly dances, making it shake for him. Personally I love when Johnny gets on that pimp shit, no body else out here really bringing it like that. Video shoot at Turbo would be lit.

Adams’s style and sound on this project is what I feel the evolution of the quintessential St.Pete Hip Hop sound should be, building off what J Goodie, Ameen, Mari and Crown Marquiss built with their classic albums. His earlier album “Conflicted” was already my No.1 album of the year so far, but this project is fully the Johnny Adama sound. This one of the best projects to ever come out of the city, and already an instant classic in my mind. Keep droppin bombs on em Adama.
